Two welders and a lock-up
Dave and Marie Holt start Ironclad in a single railway arch in Attercliffe with one MIG set and a borrowed van.

The first structural job
A 40-tonne warehouse frame for a local haulier. It's still standing, and they're still a customer.
- 2012
Moving to Attercliffe Works
We take over a former crucible steel works and install two 10-tonne overhead cranes.

EN 1090 EXC3 certified
Certification to the highest class most structural projects need, including bridges.

3D scanning in house
Our own LiDAR scanner means we measure once and fabricate to fit first time.

Forty-two people strong
Welders, fitters, draughtsmen, erectors and apprentices, all under one roof.

Measure twice
Every job starts with a proper survey. Rework is the most expensive thing in this trade.
Weld like it's load bearing
Because most of it is. Every weld is inspected, recorded and traceable.
Turn up
We answer the phone, we hit programme dates, and when we can't, you hear it from us first.
Train the next lot
One in six of our team is an apprentice. The trade only survives if someone teaches it.
